Ingredient Spotlight | Jojoba Oil for Hair & Skin

Everyone's heard of jojoba oil -- it's everywhere in almost every product for hair and skin. But why is jojoba oil considered a classic for hair and skin treatments?

This natural ingredient has multiple benefits and chock-full of nourishing nutrients to kickstart a healthy self-care routine.

Jojoba oil is actually a golden liquid wax made from the jojoba bean. This wax is similar to sebum, the protective wax naturally produced in our skin to keep our skin supple, soft and moisturised.

What does jojoba oil contain?

Jojoba is a natural source of Vitamins A, D and E -- three essential vitamins known to heal the skin.

Jojoba oil also has essential fatty acids such as omega 6 and 9, which are central to repairing damaged skin tissue and improving skin regeneration.

Jojoba treatments & jojoba oil for skin

Jojoba is perfect for many skin types because it is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory. That's why we use it in a lot of our products, from our newborn-safe Soothing Face Serum to our signature Timeless peptide infused oil range.

Jojoba can also be used directly on skin to treat scars, burns, rashes and dry and sensitive skin.

Jojoba has also been used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, but these treatments should be undertaken in consultation with medical experts.

Jojoba oil for hair

Jojoba oil works just as well for hair as it does for skin. Use jojoba oil on hair to:

  • Moisturise hair from within. Apply jojoba oil before washing your hair to prevent shampoo from stripping your hair's natural oils, or after conditioning to moisturise each hair strand.
  • Maintain the natural balance of your scalp. Since jojoba oil is almost identical to our sebum, adding jojoba oil to your hair can add hydration without grease or heaviness.
  • Encourage hair growth & repair damage. The vitamins and essential fatty acids in jojoba oil boost the health of your scalp, allowing healthier hair to grow.
